My students will be able to use the iPads for different purposes. Some will practice skills at their level by only requiring a finger touch to point while other students will practice writing skills using a stylus. All of my students will be able to listen to stories being read and answer simple comprehension questions that I create. Most importantly, the children who have difficulty with their speech will be able to point to visuals to communicate their wants and needs. This gives them the opportunity to talk to their peers without needing a voice. My classroom is extremely structured and predictable. This helps students know what is expected and lessens their stress. Part of my daily routine is 10 minute rotations. All students go to the teacher table, play center, paraprofessional table, then independent time. The iPads are another alternative to puzzles, tasks, and books for when students need to work by themselves. Independence is a skill they need to learn but it also needs to be engaging enough for them to want to stay in that rotation.
