Through the use of this novel, students will be taught how to analyze texts to determine theme, cause and effect, the author's purpose, and to make inferences. We will keep a reading and writing journal and complete a book report project. All of these are skills necessary to be proficient readers and writers. Donations to this project will enable my students to believe they, too, can reach for the stars. These novels will take what most middles schoolers consider a "boring" subject and make it come alive. My hope is that it will be one of many steps toward a love of reading.

About my class
