I teach first grade at an elementary school, which services students from pre-k through fifth grade. My first graders come to school brimming with excitement for learning and valuable time spent with their classmates. The first grade year for students is usually characterized by lost teeth, shoe-tying victories, progressing to reading chapter books, adding without fingers, and writing "real words" as opposed to phonetically correct words; however, even at this early age, it our duty to prepare students for the future of college and careers. We are living in a technology-driven world, and providing our students with opportunities to interact with each other and with technology is key to preparing students for the future. I would like to continue to provide my students with meaningful opportunities to engage with one another and with technology in the classroom.
