My project consists of items that will allow the students in my classroom to comfortably learn. All students have the right to be taught and learn; with items such as flexible seating and sensory tools, students with any type of special needs will have the ability to learn their best. Sometimes all it takes for a child to focus, attend, and succeed is a wobble cushion. As someone who taps their foot while working, I understand the importance of sensory input while trying to attend. Students with different special needs will benefit from the weighted lap pad, or something as simple as noise cancelling headphones when working to block out distractions. Taking a break at the sensory light table will be beneficial for a child or may be overstimulated, while another student may just need a minute to cool down in a beanbag chair. My project will help me cater to students with diverse needs. My room will be a place that children can comfortably access the curriculum, like any typical child would.
