Scholastic News gets my second graders excited to read and learn with short, on-level nonfiction, and remarkable real-world photos. With each issue, students learn all about a new seasonal science or social studies theme that's relevant to our curriculum. The student will build the nonfiction-reading skills they need most with Scholastic's thoughtfully written texts as well as the use of the skills sheets they provide. There are also online resources like digital issues, learning videos, and Text-to-Speech audio that promote continued student engagement. The families of my students very often don't have a collection of books in the home. When we're finished using them in the classroom, this magazine helps to fill a void with current reading material for them to share at home!
