This is my first year and as you might imagine I am not starting out with a lot. I do however have the unique opportunity to teach at the elementary school that I attended when I was growing up! All of the materials that I've requested are going to go towards making my classroom a welcoming environment that my kids WANT to be in! I want to show them that they are loved and have a safe space to come to when they are away from home. I believe that if the kids want to be there then they will be as ready and excited to learn as I am to teach them! The bean bags, teepee, storage containers, and rug will be used to make our classroom library an organized, fun, and enjoyable space to be in to learn and read. Books can really broaden our horizons and take us to places without even leaving our own rooms. I feel this is especially important when growing up in a small town. We also need a new set of classroom whiteboards to work on math problems and other classroom assignments. These materials will make a big difference to my students and will help us to have a very successful year!
