Providing my students with flexible seating options allows them to choose a space to work that suits them. Sitting in chairs at tables is not the ideal learning space for many children. Some prefer to stand, some like to sit or lie on the floor with clip boards, and some enjoy getting comfortable in a cozy bean bag chair. My students are more engaged and motivated to learn when they are given choices. I plan to use the Norwood Plastic Stack Stools at the computer center in my classroom. I think this will be a more comfortable option for students than the chairs I have now. I will put the Posh Bean Bag Chairs in the classroom library so students can relax with a good book. The Active Kids Chairs, Trideer Inflated Stability Wobble Cushions, and Gaiam Kids Stay-N-Play Children's Balance Balls will be available for students who benefit from some movement while they work. The ECR4Kids Surf Portable Lap Desks will be another option for students who do not focus well while sitting at a table. Students will have the choice to use flexible seating options during independent and group work times. Currently, I have a few different seating options for my students but I would love to provide them with even more opportunities to learn comfortably.
