Not all students are successful when sitting at the traditional classroom desk and chair. Some students are more attentive when given the choice to sit in chairs that wiggle or when working on the floor. My students will be given the choice of sitting at the traditional desk, sitting alone on the carpet using a lap desk, kneeling at a lower table, or standing at a high top to do their work. As a teacher, I recognize that all students learn differently. Seating plays a big part in a students ability to focus on their academics. My first graders will be given the choice of which seating option they feel helps them focus better to achieve the assigned task.
