"Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are." This quote by Mason Cooley is posted in the front of my classroom. It is a reminder to my students that reading is a tool to help us change the world we live in and take us to faraway places. I teach in a school where the majority of students have never traveled further than 50 miles away from home. The world they know of is small, however their hearts and generosity are large. Some of my favorite teaching moments happen when the bell rings to end class and students don't want to put their books down. I love matching students with books in my classroom library that fit their interests. This project will allow me to add books to my classroom that will engage students who love science, history, sports, and fantasy. The books that I will purchase are varying levels, ensuring that every student in my classroom will have access to books that are at their reading level and will catch their interest.
