Revision is a key component to the writing process, and many students feel vulnerable when their writing is being critiqued. Therefore, creating a safe and comfortable writing environment is crucial to developing trust between peers and the teacher. Writer's Workshops are a way to help ease that anxiety and build trust because students are in smaller groups and they feel less threatened. Right now, my students have to come up to my podium for editing feedback, which makes them feel like everyone is watching them and they have to hunch over the podium to correct errors. By donating to our project, you will help increase student focus and engagement in writing. These bean bag chairs will allow me to create a revision station at the back of my classroom, which will make students feel more comfortable since their peers will not be looking directly at them. This will help students engage more in the editing process and pay attention to the feedback they are being provided, rather than focusing on the others around them. In addition, students will gain more confidence in their writing abilities and be more willing to share with their peers, because they will be in a small group setting with my supervision and guidance.
