A classroom that has books which allow students to see themselves, regardless of their background, upbringing, and placement becomes a safe zone for learning, appreciation, and acceptance. A place where we can learn about cultures and traditions both in the classroom and around the world. Where the world is at the turn of a page and the characters become friends. This is the ultimate goal I have as a reading teacher and these books will help me build just that. Help my students learn about themselves and other cultures, to learn about perseverance, and grit. With these books in my classroom, my students will have access to learning and acceptance at their reach. My students will access the books and by doing this will realize how big the world truly is and the importance of their contributions to it.
