These materials will make a powerful difference in the students' ability to learn. Studies suggest that students who are not confined by strict seating arrangements learn at a more rapid rate. When given the opportunity to sit in a more comfortable space it enhances student focus as well as strengthens their decision-making skills. When given the opportunity to choose how they will learn best they will become more responsible members of the classroom and take ownership of their learning. Alternative seating has proven to increase students' academics, participation, and behavior. A comfortable learning environment will encourage more student engagement which will result in more student success. When student seating options are given it provides the students space to collaborate, lounge, work silently and individually, increase student engagement, and it opens the room to a variety of learning styles. Examples of seating options that will be provided are stools, wobbly cushions, bouncy yoga balls, portable lap desks, and knee cushions will help make this possible for my students.
