There are many different ability levels within a classroom. What one child can read another cannot. However, every student is entitled to be exposed to great stories and being able to analyze that story with their peers. The chance to read the same story as a classmate and actually discuss the story being read encourages the love of reading as well as promotes comprehension of text. A variety of texts and levels gives each student in the classroom the same opportunity to discuss amazing stories. While some students may be reading Freckle Juice, another group of students will be reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. The students are able to see the literary elements being taught within the story they are reading.
