My students are high school students that are looking forward to making their way in the world. They enter my classroom with expertise in the things they love. This includes their new iPhone, iPad, laptop, gaming system, or some other brand new technology. I have some students who love to read books. They carry books with them everywhere they go. Imagine how many books they could carry on a digital device! Our school is in a rural portion of the Florida Panhandle. Many of our students only experience new places through virtual means. Movies, television shows, music, books and of course the World Wide Web are their links to the outside world. All of these things can be accessed through a single device. My students are eager to learn. They are eager for me to speak their language and teach them in ways they can understand. My students are digital natives.
