My students need a plethora of fiction and non-fiction novels which will expand their reading ability. Moreover, novels like, "To Kill a Mockingbird" provide a range of topics fit to fuel lively meaningful collegial style discussion. Each book exposes these scholars to ideas and experiences that will enhance the way they see themselves, each other and the world. The chosen material include language, style and themes that will enrich their reading experience and provide new ideas and insights about people, places and things. These novels, which range in complexity also highlight author's craft, which is a focus in reading comprehension.
