This book, The House of the Scorpion, is one that I have personally read and enjoyed very much; however, our school does not currently have a class set of the text. This text is one that has something for every reader. It is engaging and, at some points, impossible to put down. I know that my students would enjoy this novel because it is well written, engaging, and will bring out some great discussion topics. There is a high level of interest with this text because it is a dystopian novel, which is incredibly popular in today's world. This text will be perfect for the new class I am teaching this year that is designed specifically to help those who need extra support with reading. It is not only engaging and exciting from cover to cover, it is on a reading level that will help build confidence and strengthen reading skills. I know these books will be treasured by my students and I hope that they will inspire them to find more texts that are exciting and keep their interest!
