Our students begin reading and notating music in 2nd grade. Applying what they have learned to singing and playing instruments is vital to reinforcing what they have learned for long term retention. The students will use some traditional music, as well as ensemble pieces from different cultures, and add singing while playing. Resources such as New Ensembles and Songs 1 and 2 from World Music Drumming will be used to add the ukuleles to ensembles with other instruments. Students will also have an opportunity to perform for one another, as well as parents and staff to encourage music learning and sharing through community.
