The class sets of novels I chose will be used to support my Units of Study for Teaching Reading. Using "Home of The Brave", students will be taught to read with interpretive lenses by studying story elements more closely. Using "The Thief of Always", students will be taught to deal with complexity through multi-faceted characters, multiple plotlines, shifting timelines, tricky narratives structures, and complicated symbolism. I believe these class novel stories will foster a sense of community as students experience the books together. Furthermore, encouraging academic and social inclusion as students share the ideas they grow about characters, plot, theme, etc.
