We are an elementary school of about 600 students, located in a small city in California. Our students are very diverse in ethnicity, experiences, abilities, languages, and socioeconomic background. We have high expectations for our students, but they know they can meet them. Like most children, they love to learn about the world around them and to have hands-on experiences. Those are especially valuable for English language learners, and there are many of them in my school.
