Flexible seating allows students to take hold of their learning and make the choices that work best for them and their unique learning styles. During independent work times they choose a location and flexible seating option in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They are learning to make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. Giving students the option of their seating and location, motivates students to work longer and harder, than when provided with only one, uncomfortable seating option. It also limits the disruptions and and increases a positive classroom environment. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The bean bag chairs provide a relaxed seating option for a sensory break or choice reading. The exercise balls allow students who need to move, the option to do so without walking around the room and disrupting an entire class. I have several students who need to stand or would prefer to sit on the floor during longer duration assignments. These options of flexible seating will allow all students needs to be met.
