I have been blessed to be able to guide students through college planning in my College Readiness class. Fortunately, my enrollment has grown which means I will be able to help more students than ever before! Unfortunately I only have access to 22 classroom computers and my class size is now 30 per section. Funding education in Oklahoma is at a standstill and I need help getting eight more laptops so my students can engage in meaningful research. Most of my kiddos are still unsure what they want to do for the rest of their lives - we spend time researching career fields and degree plans and then look at what colleges fit them best. We spend a ton of time trying to find scholarships and other financial aid and then additionally work on college level research and writing. Another fun thing we work on is financial planning - everything from cost of living to investing money. I truly am passionate about helping guide these kiddos to the next step and am confident that having access to technology to research these areas gives them a step up in being successful on their next endeavor.
