Students will be able to utilize iPads in my class on a regular basis. In general, a number of my students struggle with basic writing skills such as spelling, grammar and punctuation, thus making it difficult for them to compose a well-written essay. These students will have the opportunity to utilize the Talk-to-Text feature on the iPad; once the text is compiled, those students will be able to make the necessary edits in order to convey what they are trying to say. Students will be able to access specific, interactive iPad apps to enhance their learning experience. One of the apps that I will utilize in my Government class is My Congress. This app will show students specifics about their congressmen and women and how to contact them should the need ever arise. My World History class will benefit from the app History Maps of the World. This app will allow students to interactively explore historical maps at their fingertips. Finally, my Economics students can utilize the app Econ Ed to gain a basic understanding of economic principles with detailed examples. Using iPads will provide mobility and more freedom in my classes. First, students can complete quick research on the historical figure of the week, then present their information to the class directly by connecting the iPad to our projector. Second, students will be able to easily collect and organize data as they survey staff and students on politics and current events. Finally, students will utilize the iPads to perform quick research as they participate in regular debates. iPad access would truly transform my history classes and make history come alive for my students.
