When you are working, don't you like being comfortable? When you are comfortable, aren't you more motivated to get things done? Flexible seating has a multitude of benefits in the classroom. Kindergarten is not what it used to be. My 5 and 6 year old students are required to handle so much and produce so much that they should feel empowered and confident in doing so. Flexible seating gives students a choice and sense of power over their environment and their work. Children need to move. They need to be comfortable. Flexible seating allows them to choose their seat, choose who they work with and build community in the classroom all while being comfortable.
