Students do not learn in the same ways, so why would they need to sit in the same chairs all day? Giving them a chance to move around, sit with different children throughout the day helps build new friendships but also independence. Giving them a choice will also build trust and respect between student and teacher. Believing that they will make good choices and letting them have a voice help build the students esteem and they want to make you proud! I want my students to learn and be independent. I think giving them a choice of where they sit and who they with will make for a very exciting year!
