Kindergarten students learn about so many things during play time. They engage in and navigate through social situations, they make meaning of the world around them through pretend play whether it be pretending to be a waitress at a restaurant or a veterinarian. Students learn responsibility by taking care of the materials and flexibility if the area they want to play in that day has too many people at it. They learn STEM basics making structures and testing how high they can go. As a second year teacher, I do not have the means to provide enough materials for my class. The books selected will engage and encourage my students to think creatively and inspire them to make their own creations. The buliding supplies will help them to think like and build like engineers. The dramatic play supplies like the veterinary kits, play food, and cash register help provide the scaffolding for students to participate in social situations and mimic the world around them.
