These books will be an excellent way to help our students become open-minded and value cultures different from their own. They will help us learn about and appreciate our differences. Each of these book choices nurtures respect and acceptance and will lead to great conversations. This project will allow me to have books that represent a wide variety of people which will lead to more student engagement. Students will be able to make connections and think critically about the stories we are reading. These books will help with student agency by having students take more ownership in their learning when they see themselves in the characters or read stories that share their culture.

About my class
