This year students will read Renee Watson's piecing me together. During this coming of age unit, students will begin to explore who they are and think critically about how they will contribute to the world. Who am I and who am I becoming? Students will explore the answer to this question in their final project assignment. After reading the book, they will create a scrapbook that represents various components of their own identities. They will essentially, piece themselves together in their project. My students will use the scrapbook supply kit to create their own individual and personalized visual presentation of who they were and who they are becoming.
