Since the death of Mr. Floyd and the protests erupting around the world, I wanted to diversify my classroom library for my students. I want them to read books written by authors of color. I want them to read about the challenges POC face in our society and have meaningful conversations around racism and prejudice. I teach in rural Wisconsin, which is very conservative, and I want students to read books that they wouldn't normally read. I want them to see the diversity in our world and have conversations about how we can do better as a country.
