As a first year teacher I am starting from scratch. I want to provide a bright and inviting classroom where students are excited to come everyday. Having a class carpet will keep students engaged during lessons and give them a place to spread out during literacy centers. Giving students flexible seating is beneficial because it allows the learner to choose what works best for them. Getting students out of their desk and on the carpet allows them to focus their energy on the lesson. When students feel more comfortable they are more connected to the lesson and more connected to one another.
