With the option of flexible seating my students will be able to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During stations work students will be able to collaborate, interact, and communicate on a much higher level. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting on the floor with clip boards, or sitting on the window shelves.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. They almost always seem more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The concave seat stools will allow students to sit anywhere around the room with a different look and feel than a regular hard stool. The backless balance ball chairs will give some movement options while addressing posture and balance issues. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The comfy folding floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. Lastly, the standing desk will give students an option from sitting at all. Standing helps with circulation and can reduce the amount of off task issues.
