One of the best ways I can help my students develop is by providing a classroom library that contains a variety of titles and is visually appealing. When students have easy access to engaging books and reading materials at school, it is much easier to get a great book in their hands. My students range from voracious readers looking for the latest exciting story to reluctant readers who need the right fit to encourage them. In addition, some students are ready for more mature content, but of course age-appropriate for 6th grade. Refreshing a few titles, subscribing to a classroom magazine, and keeping books organized and easily viewed means more opportunities for kids to pick something up and get reading.
