My classroom is in need of more options for flexible seating. I have introduced this concept and would like to give more choices to my students which is why I would like to add Wobble cushions and yoga mats in my classroom. Flexible seating has created such a buzz in education and even in my classroom. My students enjoy being able to sit around the room to complete work independently or with a group/partner. Research tells us that benefits to flexible seating in classroom include collaboration and communication between peers, creativity, oxygen flow and blood flow, engagement and focus, development in life and work skills, problem solving and team work skills, and so much more. Not all students figure out problems the same way! Allowing students to have the ability to work out their thinking on white boards gives them that safe space to be able to make mistakes and use their critical thinking strategies that may lead to trial and error. Having a full set of double-sided magnetic wipe and write/white boards will allow all of my students to have this safe space to solve problems and show me how their brain works! The double sided feature will also help when we practice letter formation and handwriting skills. The magnetic feature will allow students to utilize letter tiles to practice spelling sight words, word families, and words with common spelling patterns.
