Literacy standards are becoming more demanding with time, and if students receive the proper foundation in their early years they'll be less likely to struggle as readers and writers. The materials I’ve requested will help my students with sight words, writing sentences, and composing daily journals. I want my students to be comfortable being the author and illustrator of their stories. As we follow the Writer’s Workshop model, the writing journal will help them transition from drawing to writing. The sight word manipulatives will help them become familiar with words, as will the sight word journal. These resources will go hand in hand to build the foundation that they need to be successful with literacy.
