Our students don't always connect with the classic literature in our curriculum; however, when they pick up a book like Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, we know that they will relate to a teenager trying to navigate the everyday struggles of high school. We also know that whole class instruction is not beneficial for every student. The books in our order will be individualized for each student here. Our students will connect to the characters in these modern, high-interest novels and see the true benefits of becoming well-read when they participate in both independent reading and book club settings.
