As a first year teacher, just from my intern, I noticed that students like to play games, and what is a better way to get students to learn through games. Using Math Daily 3 is something I have grown to love. The stations in Math Daily 3 (math by myself, math with someone, and math with the teacher) help students master the standard. Math Daily 3 is something that I can incorporate with any elementary grade, with the exception of pre-k and kindergarten. As stated, the math binder will be used to hold all math activities that will relate to the math standard we are working on and a review of other standards. The purpose of the storage container is for students to place with math tools in. For instance, one standard deals with multiplication. A math tool that would be place in the tool box would be playing cards and students can do math with someone and play a multiplication game by multiplying the two cards pulled. Another item that will make Math Daily 3 a success for the students is the use of the base ten blocks will also help with multiplying and also place value. The products I have selected will help my students excel in math. The students will have a choice into choosing an activity that they like best that will help them master the standard at hand. Having a flexible seating classroom and allowing students to be in control of selecting a seat and an activity to help better their learning will give the student a sense of control. I have seen through my intern that giving students a choice can have a positive impact on their learning and confidence.
