A lot of our students come from low income homes and they are not properly prepared with the supplies that they need. The materials that I have requested are basic supplies that will help equip students to learn in my classroom. A classroom pencil sharpener is essential with 100 students. In my class, students are required to take notes and work out daily problems. Students also need to have a binder to keep up with their notes and handouts. The binders that I have requested will be a great asset for students not only for this school year, but also as they go forward in middle school. Lastly, my request for colored pencils will enhance students learning. We use colored pencils as highlighter for notes and often implement coloring math activities.
Students need basic school supplies to grow as independent learners and reach their potential.
I think that if my students are provided with basic school supplies, they will be able to focus more on their learning and less on their basic needs. This opportunity would not only give students confidence in their learning, but it would also help foster a safe and inviting environment.
