Today’s education system is all about testing. We are slowly drowning out a love for reading and learning in our students. The Junior Scholastic magazines is just one step, one thing, that will help these students continue their love for reading and learning and, in the process, also help them be successful on these standardized tests they have to take. The purpose for using these magazines in my classroom is to build strong knowledge foundations, so that in the future these students have prior knowledge to bring to a variety of topics that will help make them lifelong readers and expert citizens. It’s about exposing them to as much as possible while they are with me and having them read at home, which is important to building up their love of reading.
