As part of our United States history curriculum, students learn about the industrial titans of the early 20th century. Each year I use the original Monopoly game to show how each of these men ascended politically, economically and socially. With the addition of the blank folding boards, play money and houses, students will be able to be a part of a game where they will be developing monopolies with properties that they are learning about in class. Using this game, students will not only learn about the economic process of building monopolies, but also how to effectively and responsibly manage money. In conjunction with customized roles, students will then be able to experience what it was like to be an industrialist of the time!
