Picture this... your in a classroom full of desks in rows and tired, bored students! Not in this classroom! With your help, I will be able to liven up my classroom by adding new flexible seating a sprucing up my reading and writing centers! With your help, I can have a classroom full of engaged learners who are excited not only to come to school, but to learn and help others learn! These items in this project will be used by my students everyday. They will have the opportunity to use the flexible seating options in class (milk crate chairs and the pillow inflate)! Students will also utilize new book shelves in the classroom. This will help our ELA classroom feel more like a reading centered room! Students will learn how to put books back correctly and enjoy filling the bookshelf with tons of new books! I have placed curtains on my project to use in the classroom windows. Nowadays in some schools you are required to have some kind of curtain or paper covering your windows in case of a lockdown situation. I have also planned a reading unit on a series of Jason Reynolds books that are a part of my project here at donors choose. It’s called the Track series. It details the lives of 4 track runners around the age of my students. They come from low income households and deal with everyday struggles. I will use this book with my students to teach reading standards while also teaching real life scenarios. Lastly I have placed organizational tools on my project. Students will use these as part of their classroom jobs! Responsibility is key!
