My students this year will are comprised of middle school and high school students from predominately low-income communities throughout Missouri. Many of the students at the Middle/High School will be new coming from one of 28 schools closed in the MO School District last year. Our school district is in the process of restructuring our schools to better educate our students. Starting the new school year with adequate technology and teaching tools will be one of the best ways to begin to raise student achievement for all children throughout the city. So many of my middle school students are beginning to dream about careers in engineering and medicine, and I want to be able to give them a solid foundation in math to prepare them for college and their future careers.
