By providing students access to diverse books in the classroom, I am hoping to increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement and help students become critical thinkers, analytical readers, and informed citizens. The books in my library will encourage students to select stories that are a good fit for their unique preferences and hopefully challenge them to experiment with new genres. I have hand picked a collection of books that I believe will reflect diverse perspectives for students such as "Inside Out and Back Again" by Thannha Lai and "Slyvia and Akki" by Wilifred Conkling. I have spent time researching diverse books and collecting titles to address what I believe to be the needs, interests and concerns of my students. Would you consider supporting me in reaching my goal of building a diverse library by funding my project?
