I try and make sure that even our recess time is full of engaging and enriching activities for my students. This is difficult because our playground equipment is older, with not many options for our youngest of students. STEM and STEAM activities are becoming an integral part of instruction, but my Pre-K students struggle to even know where to begin when CREATING something. Technology is great, but so is building something with your own hands! The outdoor waterfall ramps and water table along with the alphabet rocks (as well as other items students will find in nature) will provide endless opportunities for students to engage in creative, open ended play, outdoors with their peers. The Foam Block Builders will also provide students with a way to imagine, suppose and participate in creative play outdoors. When students design, imagine and build together they are not only working on life skills like flexibility and problem solving, but they are also working on multiple scientific, and mathematical concepts. Persistence in problem solving and creativity are essential for learning. I believe that the materials I am requesting will not only provide opportunities for my students to create, persist, learn and grow, but will also be a lot of FUN!
