I love using flexible seating in my classroom! It offers so many benefits to each student, and the class as a whole. Flexible seating gives each student choice, helping them feel empowered and comfortable in the classroom. It often gets students moving, whether it's by bouncing on a ball while they read, or kicking in a chair while writing. This movement is key to promoting a healthy lifestyle, and offering the sensory input that many students need during the day.
Flexible seating also creates a responsible community and easy collaboration. By offering constantly changing seat choices, students learn to care for their classroom community as a whole, and not just *one* desk or personal workspace. Flexible seating makes it easy to move seats for collaborative work as well. The best part about flexible seating is that it helps make learning FUN!
I would love to add some more flexible seating to my classroom. Six Wobble Chairs would be the perfect addition to my teacher table! I use my teacher table to conference with small groups and individual students. I keep these conferences short, but students still get antsy sitting in normal table seats. The Wobble Chairs would offer my small groups the sensory input they need while practicing difficult tasks.
