I want to foster a collaborative classroom that helps enhance learning with flexible seating in the classroom. Students feel empowered when they're allowed to choose where they work. Students with disabilities thrive in an environment where they can choose seats that help them focus on their learning. Research has also shown that, students participate more in discussions in a classroom with collaborative group seating versus traditional lecture-style seating, and also improved their performance on standardized tests. Flexible seating will also allow my students to work in a collaborative environment that will prepare them for college and careers. Most importantly, I want school to be a place where my students love to be. Students will be more successful when they are engaged, enthusiastic, and relaxed.
