Many of the upcoming 6th graders struggle with organization and memorization. I plan to use interactive notebooks to engage them as well as provide a reference tool for projects and testing. I will be allowing open notebook quizzes as a way to gauge understanding before chapter or unit testing. These notebooks allow for a great deal of differentiation and involvement of all students. Having the materials in order will help them see a concrete example of organization. Beyond direct academics, the engaging nature of these notebooks also builds performance character. Starting these organizational and character education skills now increases the chance that these children will be organized as adults.
