The resources I have requested for our project might seem simple and basic at first glance, but they are vital to the learning of my students. In the classroom, I have whiteboards everywhere: large ones hung on the walls, easels, individual student boards, and more. In a day's lesson, I encourage students to work in groups at these whiteboards. We need basic classroom supplies including Expo Markers, Crayola markers and scissors to facilitate group problem solving. One student works on the problem at the board while the other members in the group ask questions to help guide the presenter to the correct answer. Students work together and this solidifying their learning in a way that isn't achieved when a teacher simply stands at the front of the room. Oftentimes I'll ask students to create posters demonstrating their work done in groups. Somehow markers never seem to last very long, and they're always fighting over who gets the "nice" scissors all so that their poster can be the "best" : )
