My students are all English Learners who have been in the United States for less than two years, and range in age from 14-20. Many are unaccompanied minors or SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education). Most students work after school--often 40 hours per week--to support themselves and their families, and send money to relatives in their home countries. They are dedicated, hard-working, and truly optimistic about living their best lives in the United States.
