It would mean the world to me to give my students access to technology. These small Dell Laptops would be part of my daily routine to ensure that the foundational skills that a first-grader needs are met. As a first-year teacher, I am determined to be exactly what these young students need; just as they are exactly what I need. I am ready to meet them at the levels they are, and to scaffold them to greatness. My daily routine will incorporate small reading groups to make their learning more meaningful. If I could incorporate technology into these small groups, it would ensure that fun sight word games or opportunities to respond to reading could be done without my help. This same concept would come into play with all of the Math Skills that they need lots of practice in! Students who need the extra help could get Zearn time on the laptops to reinforce their skills and to add fun into the mix! Or the students that are ready to move on and need that extra challenge; or better yet, the students who need an incentive. Access to technology would change the environment of this classroom greatly, and would make these kids' year!
