My students and I will each be participating in our own 40 Book Challenge throughout the school year. We will read books of our own choosing--books that let us peek at a sliver of the world that had once been unfamiliar, books that make us laugh, make us cry, and ultimately invite us to fall in love with reading. It is through a love of reading that we create and sustain lifelong learners, compassionate humans, knowledgeable and capable leaders. Fulfillment of this project will not only place high-interest novels on our shelves, but it will give my students the excitement of digging into an abundance of brand new novels, with the opportunity to choose what motivates them to kick start their 40 Book Journey.
