My small school's band program in rural Mississippi has fallen on hard times. Once a thriving instrumental program, the band has suffered through various circumstances that has profoundly wounded the program. However, the students are eager to learn about music and how to play an instrument. Having a set of congas and bongos will expand the number of styles that can be taught in the classroom. With these instruments, students can gain exposure to Latin, African, and jazz styles as well as traditional concert band music that requires them. This will be new to my students who have little exposure to anything outside of marching and pep band music. Your donation will broaden my students perception of music. I appreciate your consideration and hope you will help us as we rebuild our program that will encompass music of styles and genres.
